Wilderness is more about activity than sightseeing in the traditional sense. The town sits inside the Garden Route National Park's southern section, and most of what people come for is outdoors: hiking through indigenous forest to waterfalls, paddling the Touw River lagoon, walking the long beach, or paragliding off the hills above the coast. There are a couple of memorable curiosities — the Map of Africa viewpoint and the Kaaimans Grotto — but the core experience is the landscape itself.
