Morgan's Bay

Wild Coast beach village backed by dolerite cliffs, a tidal lagoon, and rough Eastern Cape coast.

Morgan's Bay is a small Eastern Cape beach village with a bigger landscape than its size suggests. It sits where the softer holiday coast begins to feel like the Wild Coast: a sandy beach, a shallow lagoon, black rock shelves, and cliffs that catch the last light over the Indian Ocean.

The village is low-key and family-minded, but it clears the spare-day test because the best things are outside. Walk the Morgan Bay Cliffs, swim or paddle at the beach and lagoon, then keep going into Cape Morgan Nature Reserve or toward Double Mouth for estuary, forest, and shipwreck stories.

Come for a day from East London or use it as a quieter base before crossing the Kei into the wilder Transkei. It is not a polished resort strip, and that is a large part of the charm.

Beaches

The main beach is the village's everyday centre, with the lagoon giving families and paddlers a calmer option than the open Indian Ocean. Conditions can change quickly, so treat the sea with respect even when the sand looks gentle.
