Getting There

Most visitors arrive by air at Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport (LFW), 4 km north of the centre. ASKY Airlines, the regional carrier, is based here and has connections across West and Central Africa. Air France, Brussels Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines and Turkish Airlines run direct flights from Europe. A taxi to the centre takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.

By road, Lomé is 3 hours from Accra along the coast road via the Ghana border at Aflao, and 3 to 4 hours from Cotonou in Benin via the border at Hilakondji. Both crossings are open daily; the Ghana side is the busier and more chaotic. STC and Vivo buses run to Accra; bush taxis cover the Cotonou route. From the north, shared taxis run from Sokodé and Kara overnight on the main highway.
