La Marsa sits at the northern end of the TGM line, and the two great day-trip destinations are a few minutes' train ride away. Sidi Bou Said, the famous blue-and-white village above the cliffs, is one stop south — ten minutes by train and an essential half-day. Carthage, with its scattered Punic and Roman ruins, is the next stop along and can fill a full day. Central Tunis itself, with its great Medina, the Bardo Museum, and the modern Habib Bourguiba avenue, is a 30-minute ride south.
