Hotel Motel Zone

The main tourist strip, running south from the town centre along the beach

The Hotel Motel Zone is the spine of Cox's Bazar tourism — a strip of hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, and beach access points running along the coast road south of the town centre toward Kolatoli. Most visitors to Cox's Bazar stay somewhere in this zone.

The strip is relentlessly functional rather than attractive. Buildings crowd right up to the road, signage is dense, and traffic is constant during peak hours. But the beach access is easy, the range of places to eat is reasonable, and being central means you can walk to most things. The better guesthouses are on the quieter side streets set back from the main road. The zone's southern end, near Kolatoli Square, is slightly calmer and has some good independent restaurants away from the most tourist-facing parts of the strip.
