Things to Do

Bengbu's sights are modest but genuine. The city's strongest cards are its Huaihe River setting, the archaeological legacy of the Shuangdun Neolithic culture, and the nearby Gaixia battlefield where one of Chinese history's most dramatic last stands took place. Zhanggong Mountain, rising from the middle of the city between two lakes, gives the best overview of the urban layout and is pleasant for an hour's walk.
