Yunshuiyao Scenic Area is one of the more polished village circuits in Fujian tulou country. The appeal is not a single building but the whole landscape: stone paths beside the stream, old banyan trees, waterwheels, and round or square earthen houses still embedded in village life.
It can feel busier and more staged than the quieter tulou clusters, but it is photogenic and easy to understand. Come early if you want the lanes before the tour groups, and use it as a softer counterpoint to the more architecturally famous Tianluokeng and Hongkeng clusters.
