The Village without People is an abandoned settlement near Kaiping where empty houses, collapsed roofs, vines, and old household remains give a raw look at rural depopulation. The village was once tied to the Gin clan and to the same overseas Chinese wealth that produced the area's diaolou watchtowers.
It is an atmospheric stop if you are already exploring Kaiping's watchtower villages, but it is rougher than the restored UNESCO sites. Keep to clear paths and do not climb into unstable buildings.
