The diaolou towers and the villages that surround them are the entire reason to visit Kaiping. The four main designated sites — Zilicun, Liyuan, Majianglong, and Jinjiangli — each have their own character and are best seen on a full day that moves between them. The market town of Chikan adds an urban counterpart that merits an hour or two.
