Shaoguan is served by the Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed rail line, with frequent bullet trains taking about one hour from Guangzhou South station. The train station is on the eastern edge of the city; buses run from outside the station to the major attractions. A slower conventional rail service also connects Shaoguan to Guangzhou and runs north toward Hunan, useful for onward travel.
Buses from Guangzhou's intercity bus terminals serve Shaoguan in around two to three hours depending on traffic. For Danxiashan, buses run directly from the Shaoguan long-distance bus station in about one hour. For Nanhua Temple, local buses depart from Shaoguan's downtown bus stops.
