Diecai Mountain

Central Guilin hill with pavilions, caves, inscriptions, and classic karst views

Diecai Mountain, often translated as Folded Brocade Hill, is one of the easiest ways to get above Guilin's karst cityscape without leaving the centre. Paths climb through pavilions, old inscriptions, and small caves to viewpoints over the Li River and the limestone peaks around town.

The climb is short but steep enough to feel earned in humid weather. Go early or late for clearer light, and treat it as a companion to Fubo Hill and Elephant Trunk Hill rather than a substitute for the bigger Li River scenery downstream.
