Getting Around

Nanning has a metro system with four operational lines covering the main districts, including the railway stations, the museum cluster in Qingxiu District, and the city centre around Zhongshan Road. Fares start at 2 yuan and the network is easy to navigate with English signage at all stations.

Taxis are metered and generally honest by Chinese city standards; the starting rate is around 8 yuan. Didi (China's ride-hailing app) works well throughout the city and is cheaper than flagged taxis for longer trips. The Qingxiu Mountain scenic area is most easily reached by taxi or bus from the city centre, as the approach roads are not well-served by metro.

The city is large but flat in its central districts, making cycling and e-scooter hire (via apps like Hello Bike) practical for short trips. The riverfront path along the Yong River is pleasant by bicycle.
