The Wudang Mountains reward thorough exploration over two or more days. The main temple complexes — the Golden Hall at the summit, Zixiao Palace on the middle slopes, and Nanyan Temple clinging to a cliff face — are each worth several hours. The stone-paved pilgrimage paths between them are the connective tissue of a site that makes most sense when walked rather than bused.
