Furong Ancient Town is midway between Fenghuang and Zhangjiajie, making it a natural stop on a circuit of western Hunan. A high-speed railway connection opened in 2021, with the nearest station in Yongshun County; bus or taxi from the station takes about 20-30 minutes. The town is also reachable by road from Laosicheng, 50 kilometres to the southeast.
From Changsha, the journey by high-speed rail to Yongshun is about three hours. Driving from Zhangjiajie takes about two hours. Private car hire between Zhangjiajie, Furong, and Fenghuang is a practical option for the circuit, especially if you want to stop at smaller villages en route.
