Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport serves several major Chinese cities with direct flights; from Changsha the flight takes about 45 minutes, though the train is often more practical. High-speed trains connect Zhangjiajie to Changsha in about four hours and to Jishou (for connections toward western Hunan) in about one hour. Buses from Changsha take a similar four to five hours and may be cheaper but are less comfortable on the mountain roads.
From the train station in Zhangjiajie city, buses run directly to Wulingyuan village (the north park entrance) every 20-30 minutes, taking about 50 minutes. Tianmen Mountain's cable car station is in the city centre, accessible on foot or by taxi from most accommodation. A taxi from city centre to the Wulingyuan park entrance costs around ¥80-100.
