Tianmen Mountain's three glass-floored walkway sections extend over the cliff edges at the summit plateau, with nothing below the glass but 1,400 metres of air. The longest section runs about 60 metres along a sheer cliff face; the narrowest is just wide enough for two people to pass. The walkways are accessed from the summit trails, included in the main park ticket.
The experience differs meaningfully from the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge — here the drop is more spectacular and the absence of canyon walls on three sides makes the height more visceral. Many visitors shuffle forward clutching the outer railing; a few lie down for photographs through the floor. Both responses are reasonable. The mountain also has a 99-bend road navigable by park bus, which provides its own kind of drama without the altitude anxiety.
