The two best windows for visiting Wuxi are late March to early April (cherry blossom on Turtle Head Isle) and September to November (hairy crab season and comfortable temperatures). Spring and autumn are mild, with daytime temperatures in the 15–25°C range, and the air is clear enough to see across the lake.
Summer (June–August) is hot, humid, and rainy. The plum rains of June and July can be persistent, but the lake scenery in summer mist has its own appeal. Winter is cold and damp (January averages 4°C) with occasional frost. The National Day Golden Week (first week of October) brings very large crowds to the lake parks; if possible, visit just before or just after. Cherry blossom timing varies by a week or two depending on the year; local news sources announce it in advance.
