Getting Around

Nanchang has a growing metro network with four lines covering the main urban districts. Line 1 connects Nanchang West Railway Station to the city center and onward to the eastern districts; Line 2 provides a cross-city route. Fares start at 2 yuan and extend by distance. The metro is the fastest way to move across the city, especially during rush hours.

Taxis are metered and relatively cheap, though drivers rarely speak English. Ride-hailing apps (DiDi) work throughout the city. City buses cover the full urban area but route maps are mostly in Chinese only. For visitors, the metro plus occasional taxis covers most needs. Cycling apps (Hello Bike, Meituan bikes) offer dock-free bicycles that are practical for shorter distances around the riverside and central areas.
