Nanchang's main shopping zone in Donghu district includes the Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street, several large shopping malls (Wanda Plaza, Bayi Department Store, and the contemporary Nanchang Mixc), and the covered arcade markets selling everyday goods at low prices. The city's retail offering is thoroughly modern Chinese rather than particularly distinctive, but prices on clothing, electronics, and household goods are notably lower than in tier-one cities.
For local specialties worth buying: Jiangxi green tea (particularly the Lushan Yunwu variety), dried chilli products, and porcelain from Jingdezhen are the best options. The airport sells overpriced versions of all three; the street markets near Shengjin Tower have better prices.
