Weinan prefecture's real draw is its archaeology and landscapes. Mount Hua is the unmissable destination — one of China's five sacred mountains and among the most dramatic in the country. The Qianling Mausoleum and Zhaoling Mausoleum represent the Tang imperial tombs at their most accessible, while Dangjia Village in Hancheng preserves the most complete courtyard-house streetscape in northern China. The Sima Qian Temple and Tomb outside Hancheng commemorates China's greatest historian with a setting as dramatic as his prose.
