The Western Yunnan Memorial to War of Resistance Against Japan is a large museum on the World War II campaign fought around Tengchong and the Burma Road. It is one of the better places in the area to understand why this remote corner of Yunnan mattered so much during the war.
The exhibitions cover the Western Yunnan campaign, the Burma Road, and the Stilwell Road. Some captions are still Chinese-only, but there is enough English context to make the visit useful for foreign travellers.
