West Lake and the main sights cluster on the western edge of the city and are best explored on foot or by bicycle. Bikes can be hired near the lakeshore. Taxis are metered and plentiful; make sure the driver starts the meter. For longer trips out to Longjing or Lingyin Si, taxis are the easiest option. Hangzhou also has an expanding metro network useful for reaching the train station and city centre from the lake area.
