Viewing Fish at Flower Pond is one of the traditional scenic spots of West Lake, laid out as a garden of ponds, pavilions, paths, and planted banks near the lake's southwest corner. The name sounds almost quaint, but the scene is exactly the point: red carp moving through green water while visitors drift between bridges and flower beds.
It is a gentle stop rather than a dramatic one, and that makes it a useful counterweight to Hangzhou's busier causeways and temples. Come in spring for flowers, or late afternoon when the light softens across the pond surfaces. The site rewards lingering more than checklist sightseeing.
