Getting There

Nicosia has no operating airport. The old international airport was divided by the 1974 ceasefire line and remains frozen inside the buffer zone. The nearest airport for the south is Larnaca International Airport (LCA), about 45 km to the southeast — buses and shared taxis (service taxis run by companies such as Travel Express and KAPNOS) connect the airport to Nicosia in about 45 minutes. Paphos Airport is about 130 km to the west. North Nicosia is served by Ercan Airport, which has flights only to and from Turkey.

By road from Limassol, the A1 motorway runs north to Nicosia in about 45 minutes (75 km). From Larnaca, the A2 connects to Nicosia in about 35 minutes. Long-distance buses (Intercity Buses/ALSA) run between Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos several times daily from the bus station near Solomos Square.
