Shopping

The main shopping street in the old city is Ledra Street, a pedestrian zone running from Eleftheria Square south through the heart of the walled city. It mixes international chains with small independent shops selling leather goods, jewellery, ceramics, and traditional Cypriot crafts. Nearby Onasagorou Street is similar in character. The Cyprus Handicraft Centre, near the Laiki Ytonia, is the best place to find quality traditional items — lacework, silverware, carved gourd, and embroidery — at fair prices.

The main modern shopping district is along Makarios III Avenue in the new city, with European chain stores and shopping centres. For food and produce, the open-air market near Digheni Street on the south side of the old city is worth a visit; there's also a colourful flea market on weekends.
