A wealthy 19th-century townhouse in the Arabahmet quarter, restored and opened as an ethnographic museum. The ground floor was for service and storage, the upper floor for family living, with a balcony overhanging the street — the standard plan for an Ottoman urban house, here unusually intact.
The displays are modest — costumes, kitchen tools, a bridal chamber — but the building is the real exhibit. The newspaper Derviş Paşa briefly published from this house in the 1880s was the first Turkish-language paper printed in Cyprus.
