Kumarcılar Han

Smaller 17th-century inn near the Büyük Han, the Gamblers' Inn

The "Gamblers' Inn" is a 17th-century caravanserai a short walk from the Büyük Han, smaller in scale but built on the same plan: a square inner courtyard with arched rooms on two storeys. It has been restored more discreetly than its larger neighbour and houses cultural offices, which means it usually feels deserted.

Wander in for the architecture. The name comes from later use, when the building was a haunt of card players and small-time gamblers; the original purpose was, as ever, the housing of merchants and animals.
