The state's main archaeological museum, formerly known as the Victoria Jubilee Museum, holds sculptures, coins, and inscriptions gathered from sites across Andhra Pradesh. The Buddhist material — fragments and panels from Amaravati, Nagarjunakonda, and other ancient stupa sites — is the strongest part of the collection.
The building itself is an Indo-Saracenic structure on M.G. Road, easy to combine with a walk along the riverfront. Entry is cheap and the museum is rarely crowded; allow an hour or so. Closed on Fridays.
