Dwarka

Arabian Sea pilgrimage town where Krishna devotion centres on Dwarkadhish Temple and Gomti ghats.

Dwarka sits at the western edge of Gujarat, where the Gomti River meets the Arabian Sea and Krishna devotion gives the town its pulse. It is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites, and for many visitors the journey is religious first and touristic second: queues, bells, conch shells, temple flags, and pilgrims moving between ghats are the texture of daily life.

The centre is the Dwarkadhish Temple, a tall, many-tiered shrine rising above lanes of prasad shops and guesthouses. Around it, Gomti Ghat, Sudama Setu, and smaller shrines tie the town to the water. The sea is never just scenery here; it is part of the mythology, the economy, and the mood.

Dwarka is also a base for short coastal excursions. Bet Dwarka lies offshore near Okha, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga draws Shiva pilgrims, and Shivrajpur Beach gives the area its easiest beach break. Come with patience and modest expectations for comfort, and the town's intensity becomes part of its appeal.
