Punit Van

Punit Van is a botanical garden in Sector 19, established as a green lung in the centre of the city. It is a quiet, well-maintained space with a good collection of labelled trees and shrubs, a rose garden, and a small children's section. Joggers and walkers use it in the mornings; during the day it tends to be empty. The garden is free to enter and makes for a pleasant half-hour if you are in the area.

The trees are the real interest — the garden has a good selection of native Gujarat species, and the labels make it informative as well as pleasant. It is considerably more relaxed than the Indroda park and gives a sense of the green infrastructure that distinguishes Gandhinagar from most Indian cities of comparable size.
