Saputara Ropeway

The ropeway lifts you from the main bazaar area up to a hilltop viewpoint in a few minutes, delivering the best panorama of Saputara and the Dang forest below. On clear days — most common in October through February — the view extends across layer after layer of forested ridges to the horizon. The cable car itself is a small two-person gondola; it operates slowly enough to give you time to actually look.

The hilltop station has a small garden and a few refreshment stalls. Most people take the ropeway up and walk back down via a path through scrub jungle, which takes about twenty minutes and passes a couple of viewpoints. Check operating times before going — the ropeway closes for maintenance periods, particularly in the early monsoon, and queues build fast on weekends and public holidays.
