Anantnag Bazaar

The main bazaar of Anantnag is a long, narrow strip of small shops selling everything a Kashmiri household needs — copperware, embroidered shawls, woollen pherans, dried fruit, walnuts, and saffron. It is a working bazaar rather than a tourist one, which makes prices fair and the experience more interesting.

The dried apricot and walnut traders are particularly good. Walnuts from the Anantnag district are some of the best in India and a fraction of the price they fetch in Delhi.
