Fateh Darwaza is one of Bijapur's old fortified gates, a reminder that the Adil Shahi capital was defended by a wider system of walls and approaches. The name, meaning Victory Gate, gives it a more ceremonial charge than some of the city's rougher surviving entrances.
Stop here while tracing Bijapur beyond the famous domes. The gate is most interesting when seen as part of the city's defensive fabric, alongside the citadel, bastions, and older road lines.
