The most remote of Gokarna's four main beaches, Paradise Beach rewards the effort it takes to reach it. From Half Moon Beach, you scramble over a rocky headland for about twenty minutes -- wear proper shoes, not flip-flops. The alternative is a short boat ride from Om Beach or the main town beach.
What you find is a crescent of clean sand backed by palm trees, with far fewer people than the beaches closer to town. A handful of beach shacks operate during season (October to April), serving basic meals and cold drinks. Outside season, the beach is largely deserted.
The swimming is generally safe close to shore, though there's no lifeguard. Bring water and sun protection -- shade is limited during the middle of the day. Some travellers camp here overnight in basic huts rented from the shack operators, falling asleep to the sound of the waves.
