Karwar town is compact enough to walk around, but autorickshaws are plentiful and cheap for getting between the beaches, the fort, and the bus stand. Taxis can be hired by the day or by the kilometre for trips out to Devbagh, the naval area beaches, or further afield to Dandeli. Local bus services exist but run infrequently and are best treated as a last resort.
Boats are the way to reach Devbagh Beach and Kurumgad Island; boatmen congregate near the main beach and the river mouth.
