Karwar's coastal location means fresh seafood is the main draw at table. Bangda (Indian mackerel), surmai (kingfish), and jumbo prawns are the staples, prepared in the local Konkani style — coconut-heavy, mildly spiced, and eaten with rice or chapati. The restaurants along the beach road serve straightforward fish thalis that are among the best-value lunches on the Karnataka coast. Devbagh Beach resort has a more formal restaurant, but for genuine local cooking the dhabas and small restaurants in the market area are the better choice.
