The obvious day trip is Mahabaleshwar, the older and larger hill station 20 minutes' drive up the ridge — famous for its strawberry farms, Venna Lake boating and several viewpoints along the old ghat road. For something more ambitious, Pratapgad Fort, a 17th-century Maratha stronghold built by Chhatrapati Shivaji, sits 40 km further on and is one of the best-preserved hill forts in Maharashtra.
