Eating Out

Food in Churachandpur is simple and mostly local. Rice is the staple, served with vegetables, lentils, and occasionally fish or pork — the predominantly Christian population means pork appears more freely here than in other parts of Manipur, where it would be unusual in many households. Kuki cooking uses fermented ingredients, dried fish, and chillies in ways that differ from Meitei cuisine. There are no restaurants in any formal sense; small dhabas and family-run eateries serve what is available that day. Eating here is about sustenance and local flavour, not dining out.
