Getting There

By bus: State buses and private buses run between Imphal and Churachandpur throughout the day. The journey takes around three hours on a good day; road conditions and checkpoints can extend this. Buses depart from Imphal's Khwairamband bus terminal. The road passes through hilly terrain and is scenic but slow.

By shared jeep or taxi: Shared jeeps operate the Imphal–Churachandpur route and are faster than the bus. They fill and depart from near the bus terminal in Imphal. A private hire taxi from Imphal takes roughly the same time but gives you control over departure.

By air: The nearest airport is Imphal (IMF), which has daily flights to Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, and other major cities. From the airport, take a taxi or shared vehicle to Churachandpur.

Inner Line Permits: All foreign nationals require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Manipur. This must be arranged before travel — do not assume you can obtain one on the road or at a small checkpoint. Permits are issued at Manipur government offices in Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, and Silchar, and also at Imphal airport on arrival. Allow time for the process and carry multiple copies of your permit.
