Forest Walks and River Views

The hills around Churachandpur are densely forested, and the ridges above town give views over the valleys below. The Manipur River flows near the town and the surrounding landscape — a mix of forest, terraced fields, and scattered village settlements — repays a slow walk. There are no marked trails as such; paths lead out from the road and into the hills, and the terrain is manageable for anyone reasonably fit.

The best walking is on the cooler mornings between October and March. In the monsoon the paths become muddy and some are impassable; the forest is lush but the rain is heavy and persistent. A local companion or guide is useful for navigating the network of village paths.
