Chittorgarh Junction railway station is a major railway junction in southern Rajasthan and is well connected by express trains to Jaipur (4–5 hours), Udaipur (2–3 hours), Ajmer, Ratlam, and beyond. If coming from Udaipur, the train journey through the Aravalli hills is particularly scenic.
By road, Chittorgarh is about 115 km northeast of Udaipur and 312 km south of Jaipur. State buses connect Chittorgarh to neighbouring cities, but trains are faster and more comfortable for longer journeys. Auto-rickshaws are the standard way to get around town and up to the fort; negotiate a fare before setting off. The fort road rises steeply over 13 km through seven gates, so it is best reached by vehicle rather than on foot.
