Chokhi Dhani ("Fine Village") is a themed village resort about 22 km south of Jaipur on the Tonk Road — a sprawling complex built to look like a traditional Rajasthani village, where visitors eat dinner (a lavish Rajasthani thali) while folk musicians, dancers, puppeteers, and acrobats perform around them.
It is, by any measure, tourist-facing — the camels are for photographs, the juggler appears on cue, and the decor is a constructed version of rural Rajasthan. But the thali is genuinely very good (bottomless, served on leaf plates, with servers who keep refilling until you signal stop), and the folk performances draw on traditions that are real even if the context is manufactured. The women's puppet theater and the bhopa ballad singers in particular are worth watching.
Best suited to groups, families, or anyone wanting a concentrated dose of Rajasthani food and performance in one evening. Booking ahead is advisable on weekends. Budget for the entry fee plus transport — the distance from the city means you need an auto or taxi.
