The highest point in the Aravalli range and, at 1,722 metres, the highest point in Rajasthan. At the summit is a small whitewashed temple to Dattatreya containing a footprint said to be the sage's; the temple bell is rung by every visitor. The Mount Abu Observatory of the Physical Research Laboratory occupies a nearby ridge — not generally open to the public but visible across the saddle. About 15 km from Mount Abu town; taxis make the run in 45 minutes and include the return wait.
