The second of Udaipur's lakes, Fateh Sagar sits just north of Lake Pichola — built by Maharana Fateh Singh in the late 19th century to provide drinking water and now mostly used for boating and evening walks. The road around its edge, Pearl Mile, is a favourite drive and at sunset the cafes along the embankment fill up with college students and families.
Three islands sit in the middle of the lake: Nehru Park with a boat-shaped restaurant, the Udaipur Solar Observatory (closed to the public), and a small temple island. Boats depart regularly from Lovers' Point on the eastern shore.
