Held over three days in late March or early April, the Mewar Festival is the city's biggest annual cultural event — timed with the women's spring festival of Gangaur, when Rajasthani women fast for the happiness of their husbands and parade brightly dressed images of Parvati through the streets.
The Udaipur version culminates in a procession down to Gangaur Ghat and a flotilla of decorated boats across Lake Pichola, ending with fireworks over the City Palace. If your trip overlaps, you won't have to look for it; the entire old city is involved.
