Indian Military Academy

The IMA, established in 1932 in the former Railway Staff College building, has trained every Indian Army officer above a certain rank since independence — including those of Nepal, Sri Lanka, and several other allied forces. The campus is closed to casual visitors, but if you can time a trip for one of the four annual Passing-Out Parades you will see one of the great military ceremonies in South Asia: cadets in white drilling across the perfectly green parade ground, the band playing the regimental quick march, families crowding the grandstand.

The Indian Military Academy Museum, open to civilians with prior permission, has a fine collection of regimental and campaign material from across the Indian Army's history.
