Three of the most-visited destinations in northern India are within an hour of Dehradun, which makes the city an excellent base for a longer mountain trip. Mussoorie sits directly above on the ridge, Rishikesh and the Ganges are forty minutes east, and Haridwar with its evening river ceremony is an hour beyond.
