The Wadia Institute is the leading research centre on Himalayan geology in India and runs a small but excellent public museum on its campus — exhibits cover the formation of the Himalayas, plate tectonics, glaciers, earthquakes, and the fossil record of the Shivalik foothills.
Particularly interesting for the Siwalik fossil collection: bones of the giant ostrich, sabre-tooth cat, and four-metre fossil tortoise found in nearby riverbeds. Free entry. Closed Sundays.
