All Saints Cathedral — known locally as Patthar Girja, the "Stone Church" — is one of the finest Gothic Revival churches in India, designed by William Emerson (who also designed the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata) and built between 1871 and 1887. The cathedral's proportions are generous: high nave, carved stone screens, rose windows, and a tower that rises above the Civil Lines skyline. It remains an active Anglican church with a small but devoted congregation.
The interior is cooler than the street outside and decorated with marble memorials to colonial-era officials — a typical colonial church interior that reads simultaneously as devotional space and imperial chronicle. Worth visiting for the architecture alone; the peace inside is a contrast to the heat and noise of the city beyond the gates.
