Eating Out

Gorakhpur's food scene is dominated by north Indian staples — dal, sabzi, chapati — with a strong influence from the Awadhi and Bhojpuri kitchen. The area around the railway station is lined with dhabas that serve honest food to travellers at all hours. The city is known for its sweets: pedas (milk fudge) from shops near Gorakhnath Temple are considered some of the best in the region.
